And I ...hitchwriter I agree a lot needs to be done. And I saw that this hefty fine in Pune was at least keeping some people from doing the spitting. But they need to arrest and fine spitting cops/political neta types, to make the public believe . I just wonder if that will happen.

G Yes, it was kind of interesting trying to get people to spit for you. They always suspect you are there with some other motive.

And yes, I was in Pune but only on Bhaubeez day. For a fast trip. and no, I wasn't at my parental house, rather in the thick of the sasar folks. :-)

I will let you know when I come by next. Maybe have a bloggers coffee meet somewhere...:-)

Kavi This project did take a lot of initial thinking, and everyone laughed at us. (Actually thats what encouraged us to start the thing immediately :-))

And talking about those who open airconditioned car doors, in sparkling whites to throw a mouthful of red at the world, I thought a public blogsite showing them spitting would be ideal....

Anil P Sometimes , I think I am just plain lucky. So far I have been hit inside a bus by a Holi water balloon, but never this spit. (I wonder whats inside the balloon anyway ?)

manju We had a prize winning architectural building on campus. I happened to walk down the stairs with the Prize winning architect (Sen Kapadia), on the inauguration day. He was a slightly elderly type, and shook his head in frustration after seeing the already appearing paan stains on the stairs. Not only do we abuse the facilities, but we also dont maintain them properly. ....

Enchanted I think the swine flu scare has been used to good effect in Pune , along with the Rs 600 fine. Something along those lines in Mumbai might work, only if people stopped looking at it as another avenue to earn money illegaly .....

Darlene, Aleta Health is really the main reason for stopping this habit. But who listens ? There are rules. Implementation is the bottleneck.

Recently they have tried painting susceptible places with pictures of gods/goddesses/deities, to stop people from using the area /sidewalks to spit. Seems to be working. But how much can you keep painting ? And how long before other religions want their own. ? Difficult.

IHM You know I think this business about putting paintings of gods and stuff works. And I have a suspicion that spittingwise, animals are much much wiser and sensible compared to us careless humans....Ugich Konitarihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15901335427613806798noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25171037.post-66466580342322362662009-10-23T10:14:57.620+05:302009-10-23T10:14:57.620+05:30I live in the US in the state of Texas where men a...I live in the US in the state of Texas where men and boys and old women have made spitting an art form. They are very good. You have to keep it off you and others, if you want to have friends, and never ever spit into the wind....that is not good in many ways. Chewing began when cowboys were with cattle for months or even years and fire and barns or prairies do not mix well.
My children had horses, they didn't smoke, but I did and had to feed the horses every morning after taking the kids to school. If I was staying at the horse lot for a long time, I had a some dip. Chewing was entirely too gross and dipping..well, the same. The whole tobacco thing is gross, but you asked. I'm sorry, but I will not try any of it again even for a good cause like your film. Back a long time ago in my country there were laws for spitting on sidewalks. It was during a time when tuberculosis was around and could be transferred in dried spit, I guess. It was before my time, actually. I hope this was of some help to you.

I quit the stuff a very long time ago and finally quit smoking 2 and a half years ago. From time to time I would still want a smoke. I know I cannot. I'm one cigarette away from a pack and a half a day again.

Wishing you have an enjoyable day.Amber Starhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04084517063365211835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25171037.post-27494046927242122732009-10-23T07:27:17.430+05:302009-10-23T07:27:17.430+05:30Interesting post (AGAIN!) !!

Some time back Cyrus was doing a show on MTV Bakra, where he would go around the city and hunt down guys who were urinating along the road side. He would go upto them with camera and catch them in the act and ask them in most innocent way " Bhaisahab Aap yeh kya kar rahen hain ". It was funny to watch how those guys were embarrassed.
Much can be done for public awareness. If only the right people think about it.Enchantedhttp://introspectivemonologues.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25171037.post-55662240993115842932009-10-22T23:01:55.006+05:302009-10-22T23:01:55.006+05:30Ha ha! Not the it hasnt reached heights earlier...i mean..a building 60 floors tall can have some spit on its roof !

Well, good luck on the project. I hope things are well documented indeed.

And by the way, the most curious case is when the car door opens, and a projectile hisses to quickly hit the road.

The front door opens at the signal at the road.
